Private Lessons

Driven by his passion to pour into the aspiring saxophonist, Robert Young is committed to teaching the saxophone in a clear, effective, and practical way.  His students have been presented with awards honors at the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA) Competitions, Marine Band Young Artist Competition, North American Saxophone Alliance Competitions, and North Carolina All-State Bands.  Robert Young also serves as the Associate Professor of Saxophone at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Private study is one of the greatest ways improve at your craft.  Here are a few reasons why private instruction is so important for the developing musician:

1: Immediate Feedback:

One of the most efficient ways to see improvement in any skill is to
set up a system where you receive immediate feedback.  In private lessons, you will receive
moment by moment feedback that will directly impact your growth on the saxophone.

2: Avoid Pitfalls:

Robert Young has been playing the saxophone for 30+ years.  By taking
private lessons you will be able to glean information from his years studying the instrument.
Many times, an experienced private teacher is able to help avoid pitfalls and damaging bad habits
along the student’s journey.  This will definitely yield to steady improvement!

3: Personalized Instruction:

Because every player learns differently and are in different stages of development, it is important for the education to be catered to each individual student.  Private lessons taught by an experienced teacher gives you, the student, a unique personalized strategy for your development based on your individual learning style and skillsets.

Robert is available to teach live lessons or online (virtual) lessons for students in all age groups.
